Kumo

I see a lamp as being a hybrid of light and object. It was my intention to negate this position and produce only light without the object of the lamp. This aim, in terms of product, appears as fiction. To achieve this I needed to make a product which was invisible. Invisibility refers to everything that is excluded from our visual awareness, something which happens when a body does not differ from its surroundings. Thus, when an object’s qualities of contrast, reflection, shadowing, and color can no longer be differentiated from its environment, it will be rendered invisible. The shade blends the multiplicity of LEDs to a single light source. The lamp is surface mounted.
